Services in Schools

Youth Workers in Secondary Schools (YWiSS)

Youth mentoring/support for Years 9 and 10 students who may be at risk of disengaging from school. Referrals come to us through the school.
This service is provided by Muka Whānau Services in the following schools:

  • Flaxmere College

  • Hastings Girls’ High School

  • William Colenso College

  • Tamatea High School

  • Wairoa College

Sessions are delivered one-to-one, and can run for up to 2 years. Please discuss with the school if you’re interested in this service.

Multi Agency Social Services in Secondary Schools (MASSiSS)

Community social work service for Flaxmere College students (Years 7-13) and their whānau.
Please discuss with the school if you’re interested in this service.

Wellbeing Support Workers

Muka Whānau Services provides wellbeing support under the Ministry of Education’s ‘Awhi Mai Awhi Atu’ service. We have registered counsellors and social workers offering wellbeing support in schools to provide young people and children an opportunity to explore challenges they are faced with and develop problem solving skills.

Muka provides this service in the following schools:

  • Hastings Intermediate

  • Te Awa Primary School

  • William Colenso College

  • Bledisloe Primary School

  • Raureka Primary School

  • Mayfair Primary School

  • Mangateretere Primary School

  • Mahora Primary School

  • Waipawa Primary School

  • Westshore Primary School.

Referrals can be self-referrals, or made by whānau, schools or external agencies. Please discuss with the school if you’re interested in this service.
