Kia Ora, my name is Chantelle and I am a social worker at Flaxmere College where I am based four days a week. There is a whakatauki that says “He moana pukepuke e ekengia e te waka”. “A choppy sea can be navigated”. Today’s world can be challenging to navigate for many people. To me this whakatauki symbolises that challenging times can be overcome. My aspiration is to motivate and support rangatahi to face adversity with courage through finding and using their strengths.
In my spare time I enjoy quality time with my children. I enjoy cooking although I may not always be the greatest chef, I love giving new recipes a go. When I am feeling exhausted, I love to go to Tangaroa to get some grounding and cleansing as this helps my wairua and hinengaro feel refreshed and replenished.
